Tonle Sap Lake and floating villages

We meet at the hotel at 9.00 / 13.00 . We go by car to the Kampong Phluk - the floating villages situated on the lake Tonle Sap.

We will visit the village and see the everyday life of its inhabitants . We will go on a boat trip on the lake to see what the local school looks like, police station , shop and water residential houses. All buildings are set on stilts, which in the dry season, when the water level drops, give the impression of "legs" on which the local buildings stand.

Optionally, you can sail in the mini cruise Mangrove - with a local boatman on board. This option is payable an additional $ 5 per person. At the marina, you will have the opportunity to be photographed breeding crocodiles closed in special catwalks.

Angkor Great Loop

We meet in the hotel lobby at 8.00. We reach the Angkor complex by van or local traditional motor-motor, commonly called tuk tuk.

 

We start the tour with Preah Khan - literally translated - Holy Sword . Built by King Dzayawarman VII in honor of his father, on the occasion of winning the war with Champs in 1191. In its glory years Preah Khan was inhabited by about 100,000 people. The building has been renovated to a minimal extent - it has retained its unique, original atmosphere. Trees growing out of the foundations of the building and a layer of green moss on the stones give the impression of being transferred to another world - the world of history so far unknown.

 

Then we will go to Prasat Prei, Banteay Prei, Krol Ko - these are the areas less frequently visited by tourists, slightly distant from the most popular places here. As the temples in this part of the park are surrounded by a dense forest, nature broke through the walls and they destroyed faster and more than other popular buildings here. This is a kind of advantage, because it is extremely mysterious and calming here. Great point for photography . Little is known about these temples, they were built at the end of the 12th century by Dzajarwaman VII and originally dedicated to the Buddha .

 

From there, we will go to Neak Pean - a sanctuary surrounded by a total of five pools, each of them has its own symbolism, and in the 12th century it was believed that swimming in this holy water would bring health and cure diseases. Before us is the most-liked by tourists in the Great Loop - the temple Ta Som, for 10 years a group of qualified specialists has been rebuilding this monument step by step and today we can see it in its original shape.

 

Another East Mebon temple (10th century) dedicated to the god Shiva and parents of King Radzendrawarman, built on an artificial island, today the water level of East Baray (one of the largest artificial water reservoirs in the world ) is low enough for local farmers to grow crops on its bottom. This creates a very interesting image and it is easy to imagine how once this majestic place could have looked. The last point is Pre Rup (Xw.) In the literal translation of "turning the body" - during funeral ceremonies the body rotated with the sun traveling across the sky.

 

ADDITIONAL TEMPLE:

We will visit a selected temple from the former capital - Baphoun, Phimenakas.  Ta Keo Temple will reveal its gruesome history and the reason for leaving it despite us, despite its unique characteristics owing to its structure - as the first it was entirely built of sandstone. We return to the hotel around 16.00.

After lunch, drive to the Min Museum and charity foundation Mr. Aki Ra. Cambodia's modern history and information about war remains (on-site visit about 1h). The next point of our trip is an absolutely unique place in the Angkor complex, namely Banteay Srei - a temple called the Women's Citadel . 28km away from the center of Angkor , it was the only one founded on the initiative of not the king, but two Brahmins in honor of the Gods of Shiva and Vishnu . Built of red sandstone in the 10th century, a very decorative building, entirely kept in Hindu arrangement. The Citadel is impressive despite its small size. Returning from the Citadel of Women we will stop at a local factory to see what the production of palm sugar and rice wine looks like. Return to the hotel around 18.00.

Kulen Mountains and Bang Mealea

We meet in the hotel lobby at 8.00 . We drive a car into the Kulen Mountains - the cradle of Khmer civilization, and also the Cambodia National Park .

During the tour we will see the 1000 Lingam River (the oldest archaeological site of the Angkor era ), and also a sacred place on the map of Cambodia and a magnificent waterfall - a place for bathing and photo sessions (for those willing and depending on the water level).

Finally, we will visit the temple Wat Preah Ang Thom with one of the largest monuments lying Buddha in the country, from where you can admire the view of the nearby jungle and the litchi hills. As part of the complex there is also a relic - a Buddha footprint and a Hindu big ligam, where pilgrims can wash their body with holy water.

Then a visit to the local bazaar where medicines, souvenirs and very tasty local grilled fish and chicken are sold. For those willing to visit the Kulen Waterfall with the option of bathing! On the way back, stop for lunch at a local restaurant and stop at the Beng Mealea (XII century) - overgrown ruins of an ancient temple called the secret " Jungle Temple ." Off the beaten path, for years it has overgrown with a fancy tangle of trees and shrubs, lianas and green mosses. It is hardly visited, so there will be no crowds of tourists. Return to the hotel around 18.00.

Angkor Thom (Angkor Thom / Women's Monastery) + Apopo Mine Center

We meet at 09.00 in the lobby and from there we go by tuk tuk or van to the largest inscribed UNESCO and Guinness Book of Records temple complex - Angkor .

We continue visiting this 12th-century temple built in honor of the god Vishnu and then head to the last capital of the Khmerow Empire: Angkor Thom, to see its monuments - the majestic Bayon temple > along with its 54 towers decorated with more than two hundred smiling faces of Avalokiteswara, we will pass the South Gate , watch the Terrace of the Elephants , Terrace of the Leper King .

Lunch at a local restaurant at noon and drive to the APOPO demining center . Here, specially trained rats are prepared to look for mines and misfires. On site, a special guide, a specialist of demining, will show us a presentation of such an action with the participation of a rat and mockups of mine and misfires. A very nice shop supporting this action on site and a lot of exhibits and information related to war remains.

The next point of our trip is an absolutely unique place in the Angkor complex, namely Banteay Srei - a temple called the Women's Citadel . 28km away from the center of Angkor, it was the only one founded on the initiative of not the king, but two Brahmins in honor of the Gods Shiva and Vishnu . The Great Three of Angkor + Sunrise/sunset (one option to choose)

Sunrise option

We start the day very early - we meet in the lobby at 4.30 with the pilot and we go tuk tuk towards the Angkor Wat temple, famous for its majestic view during sunrise. Millions of tourists from around the world consider this point on the program as compulsory and extremely atmospheric .

We return to the hotel for breakfast. We return to Angkor Wat and start exploring the facility from this most famous temple in Asia. It is the largest temple complex on the UNESCO Heritage List and entered in the Guinness Book of Records . Then we head to Angkor Thom (XIIw.) - the last capital of the Empire, delighting with its monuments - the Bayon Temple with its 54 towers decorated with more than two hundred smiling heads of Avalokitesvara, we will see and learn history of the creation of the South Gate , Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King .

We will also visit the temples that remained in this area after the previous capital - Baphuon and Phimenakas . We will also admire Ta Keo - the first temple built by Khmerow entirely of sandstone. We will learn the macabre history of this place - the reason for leaving it and never using it again. From there, we will head towards Tha Phrom known to everyone from the movie Tomb Raider.

Return to the hotel around 16:00 . During the trip lunch served at a local restaurant in Angkor Wat. In the option with sunset, drive around 17.00 from the hotel to Pre Rup (currently the best temple where sunset is available). Return around 19.00 to the hotel.

Angkor from Sunrise to Sunset

We admire the sunrise from the most beautiful place at this time of day - Angkor Wat - a must-see for fans of visual experience and architecture bathed in the morning rays of the sun. Breakfast at Angkor in a local eatery with coffee or coconut. The next point is a treat for fans of Lara Croft's adventures - the Ta Phrom temple, which was the scenery in the part of the movie Tomb Raider starring Angelina Jolie. This temple is considered by many to be the most mysterious and climatic of the entire Angkor complex .

12.00 return to the hotel and time to relax until 14.00 (2h) .
