Singapore Off 2 - historical mix of cultures

(4h)

If you want to avoid the tourist noise and get to know Singapore from a more local side, then this short program is an ideal option for you! We'll see interesting places of historical significance and discover some aspects of Singapore's history and culture that you won't read about in the travel guide.

At 10AM we gather in the hotel lobby and from here we set off to Fort Canning Park. We will walk around the beautiful park on the hill, where we will learn about the origins of Singapore dating back to the fourteenth century, and about the colonial past of the island.

Then we will go to Telok Ayer - this is one of the so-called "Streets of religious harmony" in Singapore, where we can admire temples from 3 different cultural and religious traditions (Buddhist, Muslim and Christian). This street is the beginning of Chinatown, which houses a wonderful little Chinese temple (Thian Hock Keng), dedicated to deities from three Chinese traditions. This temple is also associated with a fascinating story referring to the beginnings of Chinese migration that affected Singapore. On Telok Ayer street there is also a cafe where we can try local sweet delicacies, typical of the extremely interesting Peranakan culture. At the end we will see an interesting mural, from which we will learn even more about the history of Singapore.

From Telok Ayer we will go to the Raffles Place metro station, which is located in the Central Business District, where we will have the opportunity to see a different face of the city - a modern, pulsating, business atmosphere with impressive skyscrapers.

We will end our trip to Emerald Hill - a hill with beautiful shop houses (tenements), where we will learn about the lives of former residents of these tenements, belonging to the Peranakan ethnic group. Here we will end our Singapore adventure (around 2PM).

Singapore greatest attractions

(10h)

At 10:00 a meeting with the pilot/guide in the hotel lobby. We start by seeing Gardens by The Bay ("Flower Garden" and "Forest in Clouds" ) and Supertrees , which often due to its space the charms are called Avatar Gardens . Here we look into two domes, in the first one there are fabulous themed gardens , in the second the largest artificial waterfall in the world .

Then we will walk to Marina Bay Sands , a key point for Singapore and probably the most recognizable building in the city. The design of 3 towers connected by a bridge with a length of over 150m with the longest "sky-high" pool in the world is a real masterpiece. From above, we will ideally see the port and shipbuilding character of the city - the view of the city panorama is no less spectacular than the view of the Gardens by the Bay . In good weather, we can see the neighboring: Malaysia or Indonesia.

At noon, lunch at a restaurant, local eatery or food court (diners, i.e. typical Asian streetfood). Here we offer Satay by The Bay in the open air or the more exclusive Marina Bay Sands Food Court . You pay for your meal on your own, hence it is only a proposal of places and we can adapt it to you .

Next, we walk through the Olympic Avenue and head to the colonial district located nearby. We pass Merlion Park with the symbol of Singapore - a statue of a half-lion, half-fish, we watch Fullerton Ho tel (beautiful building of the former British post office), Józef Korzeniowski Monument (Joseph Conrad) - the first of three Polish points in Singapore, Cavenagh Bridge (the only original suspension bridge in Singapore). We turn for a moment to One Raffles Place, where the famous sculpture of Salvador Dali - Plato is located, Museum of Asian Civilizations (only from outside) - Monument to Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles (the powerhouse of Singapore), Victoria Theater and Concert Hall (building with a rich history - used as a town hall, then a war hospital and theater), Singapore Parliament Building (unicameral). Then a walk through the Boat Quay and Clark Quay (former docks, and today the city's largest 'party'). Here we turn and walk along the National Gallery, City Hall and Saint Andrew's Cathedral to the Raffles Hotel - the colonial symbol of Singapore, where we will drink the legendary Singapore Sling (there is also a non-alcoholic version).

In the late afternoon we drive to Orchard Road . Built on the model of London Oxford Street , the street is decorated with lights all year round - depending on the occasion (Chinese New Year, Hindu Deepavali, Christmas). A short break and free time for shopping or we also taste Singaporean coffee and toast in a local cafe (optional point, payable yourself).

20.00 end of sightseeing together. Until then, return to the hotel or finish the program on Orchard Road and free time to arrange.

In the program: trip in Polish, MRT transport, entry to the MBS observation deck, Singapore Sling in the hotel, entry ticket to GBB.

The peak of the wheel is at a height of up to 165m, and we can reach it by entering one of 28 air-conditioned capsules. From here, you have an amazing view of the city center and the port and road of Singapore. Those interested can order (with extra charge) the option of traveling with a glass of champagne or a meal.

We will visit the Marina Bay Sands gallery and change to the subway, from where we will go to the Vivo City station and take the cable car to the top of Mount Faber , i.e. one from the most interesting vantage points with a panorama of the center. Mount Faber is also a place where the Polish tourist attraction is located - a bell of happiness and an amazing story associated with its appearance in Singapore, although some say it's just a legend.

In the early afternoon we will stop for lunch in one of the best food courts - on the roof of Vivo City or in a selected restaurant (meal on our own). Then we head to the Marina Bay Sands Hotel complex - but this time we enter Celavie for a small drink or drink and the city center panorama on one side, and road and sea passage between Singapore and Indonesia on the other. Then walk along Marina Bay to one of the cafes - One Fullerton Bay or Fullerton Hotel . Coffee or tea in one of the most interesting views of the bay. Finally, drive to 1 Altitude Rooftop bar - Singapore's highest bar (282m). A great place for a party, watching the panorama of the city with a drink and good music.
