We meet in the hotel lobby in the morning to move to the second half of the 18th century after traveling several dozen kilometers. At that time, the world's largest city had over 1 million inhabitants! It was founded in the mid-fourteenth century Ayutthaya - the previous capital of Thailand, which was an important trade center with routes to China and India.

In the past, you could meet buyers of many nationalities on the streets, among others Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, English and French trading among others rice, spices, wood and leather . As it turns out, here we can find the Polish trace in history , because in 1657 it was also visited by the Polish Jesuit missionary Michał Piotr Boym , who was an orientalist, naturalist, cartographer and one of the first European sinologists.

The city delighted with its architecture and wealth , which quickly attracted Burmese neighbors of Thailand. They attacked Ayutthaya to capture and plunder it ... unfortunately effectively - the city was not reborn again and slowly overgrown with the jungle. However, this currently adds mystery to him, and it is thanks to the rooted Buddha head that the Wat Mahathat temple looks so special and is the most famous object in Ayutthaya .

So we continue our trip and visit the pride of the city Wat Si Sanphet - the largest temple of the three bells at that time, in which the ashes of the three rulers of Ayutthaya are deposited. Immediately afterwards we will move to the beautiful gardens of the summer royal palace Bang Pa In, where we can see charming buildings of various architectural styles and live plant sculptures in the shape of elephants.

Time for lunch in one of the local restaurants, and for dessert necessarily originating from Ayutthaya Roti Sai Mai , which is a multi-colored cotton candy wrapped in a thin cake.

Finally, we will visit Viharn Pra Monghol Bopitr - the favorite temple of the current Queen of Thailand, rebuilt in 1956 for Burmese donations made on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of conquest and plunder Ayutthaya.

After returning to the hotel, you will understand better why Ayutthaya was an inspiration for the palace and temple architects in Bangkok.
